1 Day Solitary Beauty Peak Prince City Scenic Area

The Solitary Beauty Peak Prince City Scenic Area can trace its history back to the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty more than 600 years ago. It was a vassal city built by Zhu Yuanzhang for his nephew Zhu Shouqian. It is now a national 5A-level scenic area in Guilin City, and Duxiu Peak is its landmark attraction.

The natural landscape and historical and cultural landscape in the scenic area complement each other. It can be said to be “a city in the scenery and scenery in the city”. It is also the carrier of Guilin, a world-famous city of landscape, history and culture. The famous saying “Guilin’s landscape is the best in the world” originated from the Duxiu Peak cliff. It covers Guilin’s three major historical and cultural systems and is a typical representative of Guilin’s history and culture. Entering the scenic area is like entering the door to Guilin’s history and culture. Therefore, the famous saying “Guilin’s landscape is the best in the world, and you can only know Guilin after visiting Wangcheng” was formed and widely circulated among the people.

As early as the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the great writer Yan Yanzhi studied literature and chanted poetry at the foot of Duxiu Peak, which initiated the literary style of the Lingnan region. During the Tang Dynasty, the first official school in Guangxi’s history was established here. During the Song Dynasty, Wang Zhenggong engraved the famous phrase “Guilin’s landscape is the best in the world” on Duxiu Peak, which has become Guilin’s most representative slogan. During the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang’s military advisor Liu Bowen took a fancy to the beautiful location of Duxiu Peak and later built the Jingjiang Palace. In the Qing Dynasty, the Jingjiang Prince’s Palace was converted into the Guangxi Imperial Examination Hall, becoming a large imperial examination venue in the southwest region. It produced a total of 585 Jinshi (Jinshi) and 4 top scorers, one of whom even won the first place in the imperial examinations. During the Republic of China period, Sun Yat-sen arrived here during the Northern Expedition and established the Jingjiang Palace as the base camp for the Northern Expedition.

Guangxi Normal University moved in in 1954. Duxiu Peak and Wangcheng are not only a place of outstanding people and beautiful scenery, but also the political, economic and cultural center of Guangxi throughout the ages.
