Three ways going up and down the Mutianyu Great Wall
On Foot: Hiking and climbing the wall is not that difficult for most visitors. The mountain road reaching to the watchtowers has approximately 500 steps, which takes about half an hour. There are 2 entrances and 4 routes for hiking leading to No. 6, No. 8 and No. 10 watchtowers on the wall. See details on the above map.
Cable Car: Going up and down the wall by cable car is a much easier way, and a round-trip ticket is more cost-effective. Price reference: CNY140 for a round trip, CNY100 for a single way. It is at your own expense and your guide will help you purchase the tickets on spot.
Go Up on Foot & Down by Cable Car: You can climb up to the Wall and then take a cable car down at the No. 14 Watchtower.
Attention: Since the main historical sites of the Temple of Heaven are closed on Mondays, we will arrange for you a visit to the Beihai Park instead if your travel date happens to meet Monday. This park has stunning landscapes and profound cultural significance. It is very nice to walk around in the morning sunshine and see the locals doing exercises and recreational activities as well. The well-known Nine-Dragon Screen inside is the highlight.
